Service Details

Gregory Jay Partridge, age 62, passed away peacefully Monday, July 23, 2018, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston after an extended illness. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2018, at 2:00 p.m., at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines, Iowa. Chaplain Bobby Dickerson will officiate. A celebration of life luncheon will be held immediately following at the Maplewood Village Lodge located at 403 SE Delaware in Ankeny.

Gregory was born on August 7, 1955, in Knox, Indiana to Geneva and Ward Partridge. He was raised in rural Farrar, Iowa, attended the Farrar Elementary School and graduated from the Bondurant-Farrar High School in 1974. Throughout his youth he was actively involved in 4-H where he showed his cattle and horse and was a member of the Farrar Methodist Church and youth group. He participated in sports and swing choir. He instilled his love of music in his daughter, Alicea, who won several local singing contests.

Greg was a true cowboy at heart and loved riding horses and dressing the part. He enjoyed horse shows, rodeos and country music concerts with Alicea, family and friends. He was blessed with many gifts and talents. He could repair a leaky faucet; help finish a basement; restore an antique car, and work on a pit crew at the sprint car races in Knoxville, Iowa. He also created and shared beautiful art pieces of leather-work and woodworking with his family and friends. He adored children and they were instantly drawn to him because of his loving and caring ways. He was especially overjoyed when his first grandchild, Weson, was born last August.

Greg is survived by his daughter, Alicea Jeanne (Ed Weynck) and grandson, Weson, of West Des Moines; mother, Geneva Partridge of Ankeny; brother, Gary Bridges of Ames, sister, Carol Hall of Ankeny, sister, Deborah (Larry) Simpson of Ankeny; David (Suzy) Partridge of Ankeny, and 7 nephews and 6 great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ward, older brother, Bruce, and best friend, Mike Fee.
