George Michael Leach, Jr.

George Michael “Mike” Leach, Jr., 51, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at his home in Des Moines.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, July 16, 2018, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 17, 2018, also at Hamilton’s. Cremation will follow the services.

Mike was born February 22, 1967, in Des Moines, Iowa to George Michael “Mike” Leach, Sr. and Jeannie (Kistler) Leach. He graduated from East High School and DMACC in the Culinary Arts program, becoming a certified Executive Chef. He worked for Mary Greeley Medical Center prior to becoming disabled. He was a fan of Goodguys classic cars, especially hot rods, and enjoyed woodworking, doing yard work, and camping.

Mike is survived by his wife, Michelle Leach; son, George Michael “Mike” Leach III; brothers, Danny (Renee) Leach and Jerry Leach; aunt, Judy Conn; uncle, Dwayne Leach; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Bill (Jenny) Jones, Rusty (Angie) Groves, and Melissa (Donald) Marsh; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Jeannie Leach; uncle, Wendell Leach; and aunt, Patricia Hill.
