Robert W. Stuart

Robert W. Stuart, 92, passed away on July 4, 2018, in Des Moines. He was born September 20, 1925, the son of Clarence and Frances Stuart in Altoona, Iowa.
Robert proudly served in the United States Airforce during World War II as a Waste Gunner. He loved to vacation and travel, especially to Estes Park in Colorado. During his professional career Robert was always busy and very involved in many areas of life. He spent most of his working years as an Insurance Salesman. In addition, he drove school bus for Southeast Polk, worked at Ceramic Place for 35 years and French Way Cleaners for 30 years.
Robert volunteered for hospice, served 16 years on the Altoona City Council as well as their Board of Adjustment and Polk County Board of Adjustment. He was District Governor of the Lions Club, member of the Altoona Christian Church and the Altoona American Legion, and a licensed minister for the Christian Church-Disciples of Christ.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, June; children, Victoria Larson, Marilyn Hartman, Becky Procyk, Tim (Diane) Stuart, Patricia West and Theresa (Todd) Taylor; 10 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Greta (Hal) Bryan; brother, Kenneth (Linda) Stuart; other loving relatives and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lynette Stuart; brother, Don Stuart; son-in-law, Joe Procyk; and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Monday, July 9, 2018, at Altoona Christian Church, 2890 1st Ave. S., with burial to follow at Altoona Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m., at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League, in loving memory of Robert.

What an amazing man. I miss coming to the shop and spending mornings with June and Bob. I just saw he passed hugs to all the family.
