JD Powell

JD Powell, 62, died Monday, July 28, 2008 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa.
A visitation for JD will be from 5-8 PM Friday, August 1, 2008 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will be 5 PM Friday, August 8, 2008 at the Indianola Country Club.
JD was born March 12, 1946 in Osceola to Ona and Everette Powell. He graduated from Chariton High School in 1964 and enlisted in the US Navy after graduation. He married Sharon Curtis on July 11, 1971 and worked for Koch Brothers for over 35 years as a service manager.
He loved spending time with his family and friends and provided loving support as a brother, husband, father and grandfather. You could always count on JD to listen and be there for you as well as lend his support in any time of need.
JD spent much of his free time at the Indianola Country Club playing endless rounds of golf with his friends, playing cards, shooting pool and doing crosswords. His smile and laughter will always remind people of his jokes and making people laugh.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; son, Jason (Brandi) Powell; daughter, Jennifer (Jim) Paugh; grandson, Trent Paugh; sisters, JoAnn (Scooter) Darrah, Kay (Milt) Zinn, Linda (Rick) Nord and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother. Memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society.
