Michael Rardin

Michael Gene Rardin, age 70, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Michael was born November 5, 1947, in Boone, Iowa to Harold and Joyce (Lang) Rardin. He was a retired military veteran, proudly serving his country in the United States Army. His grandchildren were the most important thing in the world to him. He loved spending time visiting with family and friends. Michael was an avid collector and enjoyed photography and cheering on the Oklahoma Sooners.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Jean Rardin; his children, Michael (Argelis) White, Michelle (Robert Plager) Skinner, Melissa Rardin; grandchildren, Jacob, Carson and Addyson; siblings, Randy (Janice) Rardin of Boone and Carol (Scott) Hamilton of Ames; and many nieces and nephews.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Joyce and his sister, Janet Gatliff.

A committal service will take place at Iowa Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to his wife, Jean to assist with expenses.

So sad to hear of your loss. Michael was a wonderful man and true American. He demonstrated love and concern and a never give up attitude. We met while at Fort Riley while I was in the Military Police and after briefly butting heads became good friends. When our infant son Jacob was in the military hospital and seemed to become a guinnnie pig it was Jag officer uncle Michael Rardin to the rescue. He through his weight around and our son was released and back home safe and sound. You will be missed by many. Thanks Mike we love you! Barry and Chris Lydon.
