Ida "Susie" Rush

Ida Mae Rush, age 96, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018. “Susie,” as she was known to her family, was born June 9, 1922, in Ledyard, Iowa to Jacob and Ida Mae (Sunken) Hulsebus.

She had a strong faith and enjoyed her church and her church family. She adored her cats, and loved her outings to the Eastside Senior Center and visiting with her friends there. Above all else, Ida treasured her time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.

Ida is survived by her daughter, Susan (Jerry) Grimes; grandson, Cory (Chelsea) Grimes; granddaughter, Jenny Grimes (fiancé, James Karnes); great-grandchildren, Dayten, Maci and Cooper; sisters, Linda Long and Ann Thomas; sister-in-law, Delores Hulsebus; and other loving relatives and many special friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 35 years, Harold; parents, Jacob and Ida; and her siblings, Henry, Jake, Ray, Bobby, LeRoy, Chris and JoAnn.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 1, 2018, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at Faith Independent Assembly of God, 6001 SW 14th Street, Des Moines, followed by burial at Union Cemetery, Iowa Falls, Iowa.
