Joyce Stone

Joyce Ransom Scharnweber Stone, 83, passed away July 27, 2008, at Wesley Acres in Des Moines, IA.
She was born December 25, 1924 in Denison, IA. and moved to Forest City, IA when she was 3. She attended Forest City schools including Waldorf College.
After college, Joyce moved to Des Moines and married Donald Scharnweber in 1946. They were married 31 years until his death in 1977. She worked at Meredith Printing where she met Harold (Gene) Stone. They were married in 1982. After retiring from Meredith in 1987, she and Gene continued living in Iowa and spent winters in Texas.
Joyce loved spending time with her family and friends, going to church, was an avid sports enthusiast, loved listening to music, playing the piano, square dancing, reading, and playing cards.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Harold (Gene) Stone; 4 children; Susan (Doug) Parr of Burleson, TX, Carol (Gordon) Singsaas of Hendricks, Man, John Scharnweber of Ft. Worth, TX, Don (Julie) Scharnweber of Little Elm, TX, 3 stepchildren; Robert (Alexis) Stone of New Port Richey, Fl, Pat Klaskow, and Jan Stone of St. Petersburg, Fl, her sister; Phyllis (John) Crouch of Indianola, IA, 5 grandchildren; and 1 great grandson.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lynn; her parents, Frank and Jennie Ransom; and her first Husband, Donald Scharnweber.
Visitation and a memorial service will be at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des, IA on Thursday from 4-7 PM. Cremation will follow visitation and Memorial service. A private inurnment will be held at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines.
