Jeannie M Millett
June 08, 2018
Jeannie Marie Millett, 65, passed away June 8, 2018. Services will be held at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. A reception will follow where family will greet friends until 5:00 p.m.
Jeannie was born September 9, 1952 in Decatur, IL to MaryAnn (McElwee) and Cecil Jackson. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy in 1970 and was active at the Wherehouse, the Catholic Youth Camp, and was involved in the TEC program. Jeannie had a beautiful gift of believing in people when they did not believe in themselves. She was compassionate and caring, and had a heart for connecting with youth who were troubled. Jeannie saw the good in everyone.
Primarily a homemaker in her early years, Jeannie later loved working as a dispatcher at the Iowa State Fair. She also worked for a time for Hughes Imaging Systems. Jeannie was blessed with an artistic flair and enjoyed drawing, coloring and poetry.
She is survived by her daughter, Tammi (Jason) Howell; her six furry 4-legged children; her siblings, Debbie Reser, Tim and Joe Jackson; nieces and nephews, Sara (Jim) Tasler, Brian (Andrea) Reser, Curtis (Amanda) Jackson, and Jody (William) Tunberg; 4 great-nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends. Jeannie was preceded in death by her parents and her Aunt Jane.
The family wishes to thank Taylor House, Genesis and all the special individuals who have helped care for Jeannie. Condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

I first met Jeannie when I was thirteen, didnt have a clue what it meant to believe in myself. This was at the first Wherehouse and she took me under her wing and was one of Gods first examples of unconditional love in my life.
I am forever Grateful for her Charsmatic Spirit...
Gods peace always

Although I only worked with Jeannie for 1 hour a month, it was my favorite hour of the month. Jeannie was lots of fun and had a great sense of humor. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

To Jeannie's family, we are so sorry for your loss. Jeannie was a wonderful woman-full of life, silliness, and "sass" as she called it. She loved her family and spoke about them often during our visits and phone calls. Jeannie and I bonded over our love of art, lemon ice cream, and 4-legged family members. I'm so thankful to have known her and she will be greatly missed by our Genesis Development team.

Jeannie was a huge influence on my life when I was young. I met her at CYC youth camp and she was an inspiration for all the kids there. We stayed in touch for many years writing letters and she was always available for some good advise. I am so glad my son had the chance to meet you. Thanks for the many years of joy. You will be missed!

Jeannie was a big part of my childhood. My 2nd family, if you will. She babysat us a lot, let me braid her long parted hair, took us to church, picnics, family gatherings and even saved me from drowning. She was always humoronus. Told it like it was. My mom and her were like sisters, so I guess you could say she was like an aunt to me. God bless her soul. My family sends their deepest condolences.

Dear Jeannie's family,
I loved Jeannie. She had such a positive attitude even when she felt terrible, and there were days when she put me in a whole better frame of mind.
She would be so glad to see me when I delivered her meal each day.
I am sad I didn't get to see her, but I do know where she is.
May God Bless all of you so much with Peace and Comfort during this sad time.
