GySgt Louis Michael Castellano, 58, left his loving family on Wednesday, June 6, 2018.
Louis was born September 29, 1959. He graduated from Lincoln High School and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps serving as a drill instructor for over 11 years and eventually retiring as a top military recruiter. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family, listening to good music, playing volleyball and trips to Mexico with Julie.
Louis is survived by his children, Christopher Castellano and Karmalita Castellano; his partner, Julie Wikoff and her children, Brooke (Sonny Schlapia) Wikoff and Blake (Cassandra) Wikoff; grandchildren, Kaison, Kamari, Keaton, Sage, Stella, Greyson, Owen and Warren; mother, Rosie Castellano; siblings, Theresa (Marty) Vasquez, Moses (Dianne) Castellano, Alfonso Castellano, Anthony (Marji) Castellano, David Castellano and Tina (Pedro) Castro; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and beloved friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Moses Castellano and grandson, Baby Wikoff.
The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 14 at 10:30 a.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Louis will be laid to rest at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter at 12:30 p.m. following the service.
