Frank Negrete

Frank Negrete, 95, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 10, 1923 to Severa and Santiago Negrete in Dexter, Iowa. Visitation will be held Monday, June 11, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 11:00 am at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway with burial following at Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
Frank was a proud WW II Marine Corps veteran. He had been an athlete most of his life, pitching fast-pitch softball for 40 plus years. He was a charter member of the Des Moines Softball Hall of Fame. He was an avid Hawkeye fan all his life. But most of all he was a wonderful dad and grandpa who only wanted to take care of his family.
Frank is survived by his daughters, Annie Negrete, Kathy Laws and Toni (Dave) Crosby; grandchildren, Amy (Don) Portwine, and Katie (Jeremy) Moranville; great-grandchildren, Elisabeth Kasal, Camron Negrete, Kenna and Caleb Moranville, and Emma Portwine; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catalina “Katie”, granddaughter, Emily Kasal and his parents and nine siblings.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Puppy Jake Foundation.

Thank you Uncle Frank for always being not only a wonderful uncle to me but a outstanding Godfather as well. You never ever forgot me and I will never forget you either. Rest peacefully.

Kathy, Annie and Toni i am so sorry for your loss, may God give you special grace at this time of morning. I will always remember your Dad as a great guy and cousin who always had a great smile and words of kindness. I still remember watching him pitch as a young boy WOW he was one of the very best. Pep
