Debora "Debi" Scharf
June 03, 2018
Debora L. Scharf “Momma” passed away surrounded by the love and comfort of her family on June 3, 2018. She was born December 27, 1960, in Des Moines, to Virgil and Vicki Webb.
Debi was a proud East High graduate, Class of 1979, and later married her high school sweetheart, Todd Scharf. She was a dedicated homemaker and in-home childcare provider for many years. Debi never met a child she didn’t fall in love with, or that didn’t fall in love with her.
Debi was a woman of great faith and had a close relationship with the Lord. She was an active member of NewLife Church in Pleasant Hill where she taught Sunday school. Her faith in Jesus gave her the strength to fight and overcome her battle with cancer in 2017 and all of her ongoing medical struggles.
Debi was an active member of the community where she enjoyed coaching basketball and serving as a Girl Scout leader with her daughter. She had a love for the outdoors whether it be fishing, boating, gardening, driving around in the convertible “her equalizer,” or relaxing by the fire pit.
Debi loved Mickey Mouse and had a large collection of Mickey Mouse collectibles. She also enjoyed traveling, “wanderlust adventures,” writing, reading and participating in book clubs. Above all else, her greatest joy came from time spent with her family and loved ones.
Debi is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Todd; children, Matt Scharf and Nicolette (Nicholas) Sinn; mother, Vicki Woodard; father, Virgil (Marti) Webb; siblings, Doug (Susan) Webb, John (Kim) Huebner, Andi (Jeff) Hatch, Bob (Jodi Schlenker) Higgins; brother-in-law, Saul Herrera; nephews and nieces, Mitch, Zak (Caroline), Seth, Kaelyn (Troy), Nate (Mackenzie), Samantha, and Ryan; many great-nieces and nephews; her loving mother and father-in-law, brothers and sisters –in – law, and countless friends.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Lisa Herrera and Reneé Webb, as well as an infant brother, Michael Webb.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 8, 2018, at NewLife Church, 6036 NE 12th Ave. in Pleasant Hill. You are invited to join the family for a continued celebration of life at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at Thomas Mitchell Park.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the church in loving memory of Debi.

Todd and all, my heart aches with you as you go through these days. What a blessing Debi has been all her life through the good, bad and ugly. May all those memories wrap you tightly in the moments of missing her and help you to take the next steps going forward. Hang tightly to her and our Great Savior, Jesus, to walk with you in this time. We love each of you and are here for you. Peace, strength and comfort, Jackie

I'm so not so good at expressing my feelings. Debi, I remember growing up, we were the best of friends. Then my parents packed us up and moved us to Washington State. Regretfully, I never made the time for a return trip to my home state. I am happy for being able to reconnect with you on Face Book. I will miss our talks. RIP my lovely cousin. I know my folks will take care of you in Heaven..

I have known Deb since I was 8 years old. My earliest, and fondest, memories are of her picking me up in "Minnie" along with Andi and Lisa for movies, shopping, or any of many adventures she took us on. She made everyone feel so loved. We should all take a lesson from her life. All my love goes out to my brother, niece, and nephew.

What a great person she is. She left such a great legacy for all of us to follow. Live life to the fullest and don't sweat the small stuff. We will miss her and our prayers are with my brother and their family.
