James Shaw

James Shaw, 84, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at the Taylor House in Des Moines. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2008 at St. Mary’s Holy Cross Catholic Church in Elkhart with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Farrar, Iowa.
Jim was born on October 30, 1923 to William and Kathryn Shaw. He farmed in the Maxwell area all of his life, retiring in 1995. Jim was a United States Navy Veteran, proudly serving his country in World War II. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, Maxwell American Legion and the Bondurant Lions Club.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; sons, William Shaw of Omaha, Nebraska, John (Tracy) Shaw of West Des Moines, Larry Shaw of Maxwell, and Bob Shaw of Des Moines; seven grandchildren; brother, Joseph (Terry) Shaw of Wisconsin; sisters, MaryAnn (William) Seeberg of North Carolina and Jeannie (Lyle) Carpenter of Bondurant and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be a rosary recited at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2008 at the church and family will greet friends following from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to Holy Cross Cemetery in loving memory of Jim. Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
