Debra Ann Ritchie, 46, passed away Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Saturday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home.
Debra was born April 6, 1962 in Des Moines to Shirley and Donald Ritchie.
She worked at Victorian Acres in the resident care area. Debra loved being with her family and friends.
Debra is survived by her daughter, Samantha Ursula Marshall, her mother, Shirley A. Ritchie both of Des Moines; her brothers, Jeffery (Jeri), David (Ursula), Timothy (Lyndsey) Ritchie of Las Vegas and Mark D. Langford of Des Moines; her sisters, Donna and Lisa Ritchie of Des Moines; nephews, Tyler, Austin and Ryan, nieces, Nicole, Brooke and Jaydyn, many other relatives and friends who will miss her. Debra was preceded in death by her father, Donald E. Ritchie and her brother, Lawrence E. Cooley.

I just looking through the paper this morning and I seen Debbie Picture. I am just shocked! I would like to extend my deepest condolences for the loss of your dear loved one. At this very grievous time it could seem extremely difficult to find comfort, but there is a comforter who soothes us in such a way that no human ever could. I will keep you all in my prayers.

To the Family of Debbie Ritchie,
Please accept my heartfelt condolences to the entire family.
I spoke to Debbie for the first time last November regarding my trying to piece together information from the Ritchie side of the family for the "Family Tree" - our grandparents, Oscar and Estella Ritchie were brother and sister. She called me during the height of the rush hour (I know she didn't know it since I live on the West Coast) and I talked to her all the way home. What she didn't realize is that I almost hit three cars during our wonderful and humorous conversation - I wasn't letting her go since it took me three months to talk to her. She had me laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes.
I wasn't able to meet her in person since I was my father's caretaker during this time, but I felt as though I knew her anyway.
My one regret is that our families were not close and even though I grew up on the eastside of Des Moines, we did not have the opportunity to know this side of the family, which, I hope is rectified in the very near future. I've had conversations with Jeffery, Butchie, and Donna and hope this continues to be fruitful enough to get the families together - as Debbie wished.

I will miss Debbie very much. She had such a big sense of humor, but an even bigger heart. Whether lending a shoulder to lean on, sharing your tears, or celebrating others' fortunes, Debbie was always genuine. I am very saddened by her passing, but I also know that she is now in paradise. God bless.

While no words of ours can ease your loss, we want you to know that we are thinking about you and our thoughts and prayers go out to your entire family at this time of sorrow. I'm so thankful that I had the opportunity to meet Debbie and receive her warmth and open arms. I'm also thankful that Tim was able to spend some time with Debbie while she was in the hospital. God rest her soul.
