Robert M. Cain

Robert M. Cain, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Friday, July 18, 2008 at Kavanagh House on Grand. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home with burial to follow at Hartford Cemetery.
Bob was born February 24, 1926 in Des Moines, the son of Gerald and Evelyn Cain. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, retiring as a Sergeant Major in the Army Reserves after 31 years of faithful service. Bob was a mechanic at Des Moines Auto Auction over twenty years, and had owned and operated two gas stations of his own.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Penny Cain; children, Mike (Suzette) Cain, Susan (Aaron) Campbell, Mike (Mariah) Van Sickle, Brenda Brown, and Bobby Cain; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Sharee Mower and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerry Cain; son-in-law, Jerry Brown and daughter-in-law, Mary Cain.
The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2008 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Bob.
