Service Details
JohnMorris Singer, 18, died Friday, July 18, 2008. His memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2008 at Grandview Church of Christ. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2008 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines.
JohnMorris was born August 14, 1989 to Charles and Judy Singer. He had graduated from Walnut Creek High School where he was a member of the Student Advisory Board. He was also a member of Grandview Church of Christ. John enjoyed collecting coins and the outdoors. Especially camping and digging for crystals in Montana.
Survivors include his mother, Judy; his grandmother, Esther Pearson; his aunt Linda Rundall; his uncles, Joe, Jeff, Jack, Jerry, and Jimmy Pearson; his dog, Shorty; and many cousins and other loving family members. He was preceded in death by his dad, Charles; his paternal grandparents, John and Ida Singer; and his maternal grandfather Morris Pearson.

My prayers are with you during this terrible time and for a long time to come. John seemed mature beyond his years. The staff and students at Walnut Creek spoke so highly of him at graduation those short two months ago.
He was such a comfort to us after my husband's stroke. When John came to visit at the hospital, Michael recognized his voice and "came to" and was able to converse easily for the first time. That meant so much to me that John cared.
John was so sweet, helpful, and a Christian young man with convictions about his church's practices. I thank God that he was able to worship with us at our church in Muscatine when he was here in March. I remember how much he liked the meal I cooked that Saturday night, our first in our new home, and how he collected driftwood for his pottery teacher as he and Marshall walked along the edge of the Mississippi River downtown.
May the promises of Psalm 91 be a comfort to you in your grief so soon after the loss of your husband. They are together now in hills more glorious than the beautiful places in Montana that John talked so much about.

I remember when John first came to Clegg Park, he and Matt became immediate friends. Although the years took them different directions, they had a common respect for each other. We were shocked and saddened to hear of his passing and did not realize Charles had passed earlier. Our prayers are with Judy and the family during this trying time. Our prayers are also with the students and staff at Walnut Creek who have suffered two tragic losses in seven months.
Ironically, the last time I saw John was at Nick Trevillyan's funeral. We spoke and he seemed so upbeat about life, Walnut Creek and the prospect of graduating. I was really proud of this young man who had faced many challenges and seemed to overcome alot in the face of them.
I will fondly remember him at birthday sleepovers at our house and the energy he had towards life.
May God's peace embrace you in this time.
