Alejandro “Alex” Quijano, 87, died at his home Thursday, July 17, 2008 due to a heart attack and complications of Alzheimer’s . Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with burial at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with a vigil service at 6:30 p.m.
Alex was born February 12, 1921 in Thurba, Texas to Andres and Gabriela Quijano. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. Alex worked for John Deere as a tool and die maker for 33 years. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, the American Legion Hispanic Post 731 and the fraternal order of Eagles #109.
Alex is survived by his daughter, Connie Quijano; three granddaughters, Susie Quijano, Linda Alarcon and Reina Alarcon; eight great grandchildren, Felicia, Celeste, Alexandra, Jessie, Briana, Raven, Shane and Bryce; two great-great grandchildren, Gabriela and Bianca; and sisters, Angie (Sal) Ayala and Pat Mireles. He was preceded in death by his wife, Susie, his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
