Service Details
Robert Townsend, 75, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House in Des Moines. Robert was born October 7, 1932 to Howard and Donice Townsend.
He is survived by his three daughters, Pam (Bill) Dickelman, Penny (Shawn) Dowell, and Patsy and fiancé Pat Franklin; mother, Donice and brothers, Dick (Mary) Townsend, and Dan Townsend (Fiancé Pat); sisters, JoAnn Samuels, and Carol Sue Rapp (Ken Downing); six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, and lots of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Doris Townsend and his father, Howard.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2008 at Altoona Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2008 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Bob.

To the family of Mr. Townsend, our deepest sympathy to you all. We met Mr. Townsend in 1992 when we first arrived in Altoona from California he was always such a happy go lucky man and always made my son's smile. May he rest in peace and continue to warm your hearts with his memory.
