Marian Larsen

Marian Irene (Thomas) Larsen, 81, died Monday, July 14, 2008 at Taylor House. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Union Park United Methodist Church, 2305 E. 12th St. with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. with an Order of the Eastern Star ceremony at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St.
Marian was born July 16, 1926 in Chariton, IA. She had lived in the Des Moines area since 1932. Marian was a graduate of East and Tech High Schools. She worked for the State of Iowa for 22 years before her retirement in 1983. She was a member of Union Park United Methodist Church, Union Park United Methodist Women’s Association and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years.
Marian is survived by her son, John (Anne) Thomas; step-children, Raymond Larsen, Stephanie (Kirby) Kropf, Susan (Steve) Lynch and Jeffrey (Marci) Larsen; sister, Boneta Brown; three granddaughters and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Glen H. Thomas; and her second husband, Waldo W. Larsen.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Union Park United Methodist Church or to Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House in memory of Marian.
