Service Details
Stephen Yates died July 13, 2008 at his home in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 1 PM Thursday at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home with burial following at Sunset Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
Stephen was born February 1, 1949 to L.W. “Chub” and Patricia Yates. He served 6 years in the United States Army and was a proud veteran. He worked as a police officer in several communities and most recently worked security for the Iowa State Fair. He was a member of the 500 Club of Indianola and enjoyed riding his Harley, listening to music and watching western movies.
He is survived by his daughter, Shannon (Shawn Rowles) Yates; sons, Shaine (Shannon) Yates, Brandon Yates, Shawn Yates, Casey Glosser; mother, Pat Gray and Step dad, Jim Jones; brothers, Mike , Doug and Bill Yates; long time companion, Ursula Cage; 11 Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, L.W. “Chub” Yates and brother Marty Yates.

I found out few years ago that my dad passed away sad wish I known sooner when I found out I was hoping to get in touch and have in my life again but sad that I had to found out to late my love goes out to him and I know he loves me always.

I just found out about this sad news. My condolences go out to you all. I hope that Steve found happiness and passed peacefully. Even though we were not meant to be---I will always remember him everytime I look into Moriya's brown eyes.
I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
