Gary Christensen

Gary Christensen, 70, died Friday, July 11, 2008 at home after a long battle with cancer. Gary was born on July 4, 1938 in Goldfield, Iowa to Leo and Mildred Christensen.
Gary graduated from North High School in 1956 and went on to Olivet Nazarene College in Illinois. He worked as a Carpenter in Colorado and Des Moines his entire life. Gary was a faithful member at the Highland Park Church of the Nazarene. He served on the church board for many years and loved to sing in the church choir. Gary’s family was his pride and joy. He looked forward to family gatherings and time spent with his children and grandchildren. Many summers were spent around the family pool and taking camping trips. For many years, Gary enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball and Football.
He is survived by loving wife, Patty; children: Gary (Cheryl) Christensen, Donnie (Denise) Christensen, Steve Christensen, Tammy (Kevin) Pulley and Kim (Steve) Nutt; 17 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Beverly (Jim) Smith and Cindy (Tom) Cassidy.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patricia Christensen and brother, Timothy Christensen.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at Highland Park Church of the Nazarene, 4355 NW 6th Drive; burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. Family will visit with friends from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2008 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave.
