Vivian Chance

Vivian Chance, 93, died Thursday, July 10, 2008 at Fountain West Care Center in West Des Moines. She grew up on a farm where she assumed major responsibilities for the household upon the death of her mother. After she graduated from high school, she worked in Des Moines and married. She was a devoted mother to her nine children and for much of her life worked outside her home as well. Vivian was an interested and interesting person who enjoyed doing puzzles, crochet, reading and playing cards.
Vivian is survived by her sons, Michael (Lore), Edward (Bobbie), Russell (Elaine), Donald (Jeanine), William (Deborah) and Robert; daughters, Donna (Wayne) Hammer and Lorrie; 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Dorothy, Viola and Pearl; brothers, Robert, Lewis and Glen; husband, Donald; and son, John.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2008 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with burial at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held from one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
