William Nelson

William D. Nelson, 65, died on July 8 at Mercy Medical Center from complications of myasthenia gravis.
William was born on November 10, 1942 to Berneta and William Nelson in Downey California. He served in the United States Air Force for 4 years.
William was the administrator for the Iowa Odd Fellows Home in Mason City for eight years. He served as administrator to Cedar Valley Ranch in Vinton, Iowa before his retirement in 2007.
William loved spending time with his family and friends, puttering around in the yard, and had a great appreciation for the arts.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Pat; daughter, Cathy (Markus) Farlow; son, Christopher (Rachel) Nelson; brother, Steve and his family; mother-in-law, Mae Bird; sister-in-law and brother-in-law; Lea and Larry Kraft; as well as countless friends.
Visitation will be held at the Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, from 2-6 pm on Sunday, with a prayer service at 5PM. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, July 14, 2008, at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter Iowa.
Memorial contributions may be directed toward the Des Moines Symphony Foundation.
