James C. Morgan, 55, passed away July 7, 2008 at the Morgan family farm in Maxwell. He was born January 9, 1953 in Des Moines to Harry and Kathryn Morgan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:00pm Friday, July 11, 2008 at SS John & Paul Catholic Church in Altoona, IA. Burial will follow at McKeever Cemetery near Colfax.
Jim was most happy entertaining and cooking for his family and friends. He loved mushroom hunting in the spring and gardening in the summer. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
James leaves behind his children; Rebecca Morgan (33), Jamie Morgan (29), Sara Morgan (25), Alexandra Morgan (15) and one grandson Jonah James Smith (4).
He also leaves his father, Harry Morgan, one brother, John and two sisters, Jean Jennings and Marianne Free. He was preceded in death by his mother Kathryn.
Hamilton’s Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

Becca, Jamie, Sara, and Alex, I was so sorry to hear about your dad's passing. He certainly loved you girls more than anything. When Becca and Jamie were going to the University of Iowa, he visited Iowa City for a Newman Singer event. He made a ham dinner at our home for his girls, and you could see that it made him so happy to have you all together. We pray that God will grant you peace at this heartbreaking time. Blessings and condolences to all of Jim's family and friends.

Dear Harry, John and family,
I am sorry to read of Jim's death. I haven't really seen him since we were in high school but I remember he was a nice person and fun to be around. I am sure he was a good father and grandfather as well. One of my sweetest childhood memories is of a day when Ed and I came to play with Jim and John, and Katie and I spent the afternoon painting my fingernails while the boys played outside. Jim and your family will be in my thoughts.
