Dice H. Sullenberger

Dice H. Sullenberger, 76, passed away May 31, 2018 after a short illness. Services will be held Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave. in Des Moines with visitation from 12 to 2 p.m., the service at 2:00 p.m., followed by burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Dice was born July 10, 1941 in Lone Fountain, VA to Helen (Crosby) and Albert Sullenberger. Dice worked for the US Postal Service for 32 years as an Accident Investigator and served in the National Guard for 10 years. He was known for his quick wit with a good joke and his orneriness. Dice had a variety of interests, boxing in Golden Gloves as a teen, and later enjoyed his motorcycle and time on his boat.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Ruth; children, Kimberly Jones, Dice A. Sullenberger, and Juliann (Donnie Simpson) Jones; 10 grandchildren, Alan (Melissa), Joshua, Ashley, Amy (Mike Brown), Andrea Jones, Chrissy and Haylee Steinkamp, Stephanie Bruns, Shelby and Skylar Watnem; and 8 great-grandchildren, Allison, Emily, Cynthia “Faith”, Rayanna, Camden, Lily, Ashlynn, and Sophia; his aunt Alberta Holt; and a host of other family members. Dice was preceded in death by his first wife, Karen Kutchen Sullenberger; son, Rod Steinkamp; brothers, Max and Tracy Sullenberger; and grandson, Adam Jones.
