Russell Gale Kroeger, Jr., age 67, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at his residence in Des Moines.
Russell was born October 23, 1950 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Russell Sr. and Florence (Rutledge) Kroeger. Family was his first priority and he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had a passion for racing. He started out in Thunder Cars and moved into Stock Car Racing. He raced at the State Fair Grounds and the Boone and Stuart Speedways. Russell also loved motorcycles. He and his wife, Rose took many vacations and road trips on their motorcycle. His hobbies also included camping, boating, fishing and watching wrestling.
Russell is survived by his wife of 48 years, Rose; children, Tim (Rachel) Kroeger, Christina Kroeger, Heather Cole and Amy (Don) Gruver; grandchildren, Brittany, Katie, Miranda, Hailey, Austin, Jordan, Alison, Andrew, Nathan, Emily, Chase and Madaline; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Armani, Angelo and Isabelle; brother, Kevin; and sisters, Kathy, Molly, Becky, Lori, Lisa and Patti.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell Sr. and Florence Kroeger and one sister.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 4, 2018, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery after the services.

To the family I have known since I was a kid I will never forget the time we went swimming and your dad. Burned a leach out between my toes I was glad
to know him for all those years your mom too I don't have words but I know your Pain hold on to him in your heart and cherish memories I am sorry for your loss
