Mervin Blood, age 63, passed away on May 26, 2018. Mervin was born to Ivol and Dorothy Blood on January 10, 1955 in Des Moines, Iowa. He was raised in Runnells, Iowa and lived there almost his entire life. He graduated from Southeast Polk High School in 1973.

Mervin worked for Townsend Industry in Altoona from 1974 – 2010 until it closed. He also worked part time at Southeast Polk Community School District from 1996 – 2010 and from 2012 – 2018 he worked for Quality Manufacturing. Mervin enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, watching hockey and going to the races. Above all, he loved the Lord, spending time with family, especially with his grandson, mother, and Bobbie.

He is survived by his son, Cory (Stephanie) Blood; grandson, Caden Blood; fiance, Bobbie Pike; mother, Dorothy Smith; brother, Larry (Cheryl) Blood; sisters, Linda (Dave) Shumate and Janice (Galen) Dabb; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mervin was preceded in death by his father, Ivol Blood.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 1, 2018, with funeral service following at 11:00 a.m., at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial will be held at a later date.
