George A. Wishman, Jr.

George A. Wishman, Jr., 72, passed away May 22, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. He was born December 19, 1945, in Des Moines, to Pearl and George Wishman III.
George was a proud East High graduate, Class of 1964, and was an All Star football player involved in sports from childhood until graduation. George worked at Firestone for 23 years and Color Converting Inc. for 20 years until retiring at the age of 65.
He was a Mason and member of the Shriners mini-bike unit. George was always there to help family and friends. He loved traveling with his family during the winter months to Mexico, Costa Rica, Hawaii, and South Padre Island, Texas.
George is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Paula; daughter, Dana (Charlie) Baumhover; son, Mark (Melody) Wishman; grandson, Justin Lathrum; his siblings, Larry Wishman and Linda (Gary) Crowder; as well as other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Elizabeth “Dolly” Bailey.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines from 4:00 -7:00 p.m.

George and I wrestled at 175, he always gave it all he had, we also played football together.I got to know his brother Larry later in life.

I played football and wrestled with George at East Des Moines High school. He was a tough competitor and great team player. My sincere condolences to the Wishman family.
