Mary Hildreth Todd

Mary Hildreth Todd, age 61, was born June 23, 1956. She passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 22, 2018. Mary loved her family above all else. She was a selfless, giving person. She deeply cared about family and friends alike and would do anything for anybody. She was a “Mom” to everyone and a devoted caregiver to her sister, Debra Hildreth. She always put others first.

Mary was an Elvis Presley fan and enjoyed cheering on the Green Bay Packers. She was a talented cook and will be remembered for her homemade ice cream. She loved to take her grandchildren fishing and camping. Mary was a very strong and independent person who always spoke her mind. She loved bargain hunting and thrift store shopping. Her family will remember fondly how she was always late to everything, how she loved her Pepsi, and how she hated to wear shoes. Mary was an animal lover and liked to feed the wild animals in her neighborhood.

She is survived by her children, Rochell Comer and Ronnie Todd; grandchildren, Erica, Salena, Anthony Jr., Lucas, Skylar, Briannah, Jenna, and Brenden; siblings, Terry (Bonnie) Hildreth, Debra Hildreth, Calvin Overton, Lori Short, and Lynn (Sam) Fisher; best friend, Alice Taylor Denin; many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her dog, Lil Bit.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Anthony “A.P.” Johnson; mother, Kate Israel; father, Paul Hildreth; brother, Gene Hildreth; brother-in-law, Rodger Short; best friend, John Boy Reynolds; and her niece, Samantha Overton.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 1st, also at Hamilton’s. Cremation will follow the service.
