Gloria Ann Johnson, age 83, passed away at home on Monday, May 21, 2018.
Gloria was born November 5, 1934 in Des Moines, Iowa to Douglas and Mable (Schoondyke) Morey. She was a lifelong resident of Des Moines. Family was her first priority and she took great pride in her husband and children and maintaining a home for them. In her free time, she enjoyed playing Bingo and Black Jack.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Bert Johnson, children, Ralph (Genia Kumm) Johnson, Richard (Cathy) Voshell, Mike (Kim) Voshell, Steve Voshell, Tim Voshell, Debra Voshell, Vicky (Bob) Hoffer, Pam Johnson, and many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas and Mable Morey and her son, Bert “Chop” Johnson, Jr.
There will be a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.

When our loved ones fall asleep in death it can be very devasting. When we think about how certain species of trees can live over 100 + years. We may wonder why we as humans only have only an expectant life span of 70 or perhaps 80 years. Romans 5:12 explains why this is so. Isaiah 25:8 tells us that his his due time, Almighty God will swallow up death forever. He will restore life to many who have fallen asleep in death.

Gloria was a very good friend and neighbor to my mom and dad for many years. Always sharing from Berts garden, and his very tasty cooking. Many times visiting in my moms kitchen or their front porch. Gloria was a very special person.
