George Strable

George Strable, 81, died at home Thursday, July 3, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2008 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
George was born July 22, 1926 in Mt. Ayr, Iowa to Guy and Opal Strable. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. George worked for Fawn Engineering for 32 years. He was a member of the VFW, Montezuma Post. George enjoyed woodworking, dancing, riding in his golf cart and working in his yard.
George is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ilene; three sons, George C. and Dennis Strable of Montezuma, and Larry Graspy of Des Moines, daughter, Donna Kent of Des Moines; sister, Garnetta Boughton of Van Meter; 17 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Diane Wise and Dorothy Wessel; three brothers and his parents.
