Marilyn Rand

Marilyn W. Rand, 73, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at Iowa Methodist Hospital. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, with burial at St. Ambrose Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Marilyn was born November 19, 1933 in Des Moines to Robert and Wilma Powell. She graduated from Lincoln High School. Marilyn retired from the Iowa State Attorney General’s Office in the Consumer Protection Division after working as the secretary for over 20 years. She enjoyed playing Bingo regularly and spending time with her family.
Marilyn will be missed by her son, Pete Rand; daughter, Debbie (Jerry) Garland; grandchildren, Amy, Stacy, Andrew, Jacob, and Dustin Garland; sister, Barbara (Wayne) Cornwell; nieces, Susan Cornwell and Mary (Rich) Terrano; nephew, David Cornwell; great-nephew, Ron Cornwell; and a host of other family and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Wilma Powell; and brother, Robert Powell.
