Viola Avila

Viola “Vi” Avila, 83, died Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at home. Viola was born on April 30, 1925 to Clarence and Grace Mosher in Ft. Dodge, Iowa.
Viola had worked at St. Anthony and South Shore Hospitals in Chicago. She then returned to Iowa in 1970 when her husband became ill. Viola would always lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it before she became too ill to do so. Vi loved to crochet and do crafts.
She is survived by son, Joseph Louis Avila of Des Moines; daughter, Andrea Cross of San Antonio; 7 grandchildren: Joseph Avila, Michael Avila, Jollissa Avila, Chantel Avila, Michael Cross, George Cross andl Cassi Kuchel; 6 great grandchildren and 2 brothers, Ronald Mosher and Donald Mosher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Jesse Avila; her parents; 3 sisters, Laura Kockorsky, Charlotte Williams and Bonnie Amerison and 2 brothers, Melvin Mosher and Clarence Leroy Mosher.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 30, 2008 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Family will visit with friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at Northlawn Cemetery in Fort Dodge, IA.
