L. Louise Field, “Gramma Lucy”, died peacefully at her home on Friday, June 13, 2008 of heart failure surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home with burial following at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5-8 P.M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. A luncheon will be served following the burial at Wakonda Manor where Louise had resided for many years. Louise was born in Springfield, Missouri on May 11, 1926, the daughter of James Andrew and Nina Mae Link. Her parents moved to Des Moines when she was an infant and there she spent most of her life. She was a wonderful poet, loved games, traveling and times spent with family. She is survived by her three daughters Karen (Ernie) Wittmaier of Des Moines, Janet Brown of Phoenix and Brende (Mark) Walker of Cumming, two sons Craig Shiffer of Des Moines and Brian (Karen) Coates of rural Norwalk, her loving companion of many years Lyle McCargar of Wakonda Manor, her siblings Helen Ratloff, Robert Link, Freida Halsey, Virginia Agan and Larry Link as well as 28 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her two brothers James and Kenneth Link. Memorial contributions may be made to Wesley Home Hospice Care.
