James “Jim” McKinley, 51, died in a semi truck rollover near Chinook, Montana during a hailstorm on Wednesday, June 11, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2008 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Jim was born June 8, 1957 to Evelyn (Ellis) and Tom McKinley in Des Moines. At birth, Jim weighed 2 lb. 15 oz. and was a fighter from the start. From the time he was born Jim’s passion was to drive and repair semi trucks.
For 11 years, Jim belonged to Scout Troop 93 at Douglas Avenue Presbyterian Church. Jim earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Tech High School in 1976. Jim proudly served in the United States Army for 14 years as a heavy equipment engineer. He met his wife Connie while stationed in Korea.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Survivors include his wife, Connie Chang McKinley of Sundusky, OH; daughter, Teresa (Adrian) McKinley-Sandoval; grandson, Armando Sandoval, all of Colorado Springs, CO; sisters, Sharon Vignaroli and Judy (Dave) Rosset; and his brother, Mike McKinley, all of Des Moines; two nephews, four nieces and 14 grand nieces and nephews. Jim also leaves behind many friends from all over the world.
