Vesta Clara Sloan

Vesta Clara Sloan, 65, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at Corinthian Baptist Church with burial at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday with an Eastern Star service at 7:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St.
Vesta was born on November 14, 1941 to Chester and Emma Mae Williamson in Des Moines. She retired in 1999 from Broadlawns Hospital where she had been an LPN for 38 years. Vesta was a member of Corinthian Baptist Church, Order of Eastern Star, Past Worthy Matron of Princess Zorah Chapter #10, Des Moines and Past Grand Royal Matron of Iowa Grand Court Order of Amarath.
Vesta is survived by her husband, James R. Sloan of Des Moines; daughter, Susan (Terry) Wells of Des Moines; son, James R. Sloan II of St. Louis Park, MN; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends.
