Jack Semprini, 73, of Ankeny, Iowa, passed away peacefully Monday, April 30, 2018, at Mercy Westlakes Hospital in West Des Moines. Jack was born October 17, 1944 in Lehigh, Iowa to the parents of Mona Dell and August John Semprini.

After graduating from Central Webster Community School in 1962, he served in the US Navy until December 1967. He worked his professional career in the tire industry, for Firestone, and eventually retiring from Bauer Built Tire Company in 2003. He enjoyed coaching Little League baseball and girls softball in Altoona, Iowa. After retiring he drove a bus for the Ankeny Community School District and looked forward to many fun field trip events with all of his bus driver friends. Jack was the biggest Hawkeye fan around and you would often find him at a football game cheering on his team. His team color choice was black & gold as he rooted for the Steelers as well. He was also a devoted lover of animals, caring for many pets throughout his life. Other favorite activities included playing card and board games with his family after his traditional Sunday dinners. He always looked forward to the annual Semprini fishing trips on the Des Moines River and Canada.

Jack was so very loved by all of his family and is survived by his daughter, Deanna (Dave) Yount, and his son Steven (Cheri) Semprini, their mother Barbara Semprini, and grandchildren, Jackie (Austin) Smith, Jenna Yount (Doug Cook), John and Julia Yount, Sophia and Lucy Semprini. He is also survived by his siblings Ted Semprini, Ilene (Jim) Larson, Larry (Marilyn) Semprini and Linda (Gene) Timmons. Mourning his loss is his girlfriend, Jeanette Schreier Semprini; many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents August and Mona Semprini.

Visitation will be held from 12-2 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2018, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines.
