Patricia June Knape

Patricia was born in Newton, Kansas, the third child to William Earl Lee and Eula Jane (Husted) Lee on June 28, 1936. The family moved to Wichita, Kansas where worship of Jehovah was the center of her life. She passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018 in Des Moines, Iowa with her family at her side.

She met Edward James Knape from Lincoln, NE in 1952 and they were married January 11, 1953 in Wichita, Kansas. In their early years Pat and her husband lived in many different places before settling down in Altoona, Iowa where they raised their seven children.

Pat enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her children. She was a devoted servant of Jehovah and loved sharing the hope of a paradise earth with those she met. She was a talented seamstress and was known for giving beautiful homemade gifts to those around her. A few of the many other hobbies that brought her joy were: knitting, canning, freezing, crochet, needlepoint, cooking and baking, travel, and enjoying the company of her family and friends.

Preceding Patricia in death were her husband Edward James Knape, Sr., her stepson Edward Knape, Jr., her parents William and Eula Lee and her sister Louise (Lee) Shimp.

She is survived by her seven children, Douglas L. Knape and wife Sharon of Loveland, CO, Debbie K. Knape of Brandon, FL, David Kevin Knape and wife Karen of Des Moines, IA, Diane K. Hoover and husband Steve of Shawnee Mission, KS, Denise R. Lyons of Northglenn, CO, Darcy L. Nick and husband Robert of West Chester, PA, and Dustin S. Knape and wife Tansy of Rock Hill, SC; 18 grandchildren, Robert Knape, Summer Knape, Shaunessey Reeves, Deric Knape, Devereux Knape, Shannon Curry, Sabrina Guessford, Jama Hughes, Desiree Comstock, Briana Harvey, Travis Kern, Jasmyn Lyons, Jade Lyons, Colby Lyons, Chloe Nick, Liam Nick, Aidan Nick and Eleanah Knape; 17 great-grandchildren, Kiarah Seu, Kianah Seu, Malakai Seu, Lucas Flores, Jesminda Reeves, Desmond Reeves, Blaiz Guessford, Kaden Hughes, Devyn Hughes, Jada Hughes, Corwin Comstock, Cecilia Comstock, Jenna Harvey, Calvin Harvey, Jillian Harvey, Emma Kern, Aliyah Kern; and other relatives and friends. And of course, her precious kitty Muffin.

Patricia is also survived by her sister Wanda (Lee) Brungardt of Oakland, CA; and her extended family, Warren Knape of Lenox, GA; Warren Blow of Lincoln, NE; Walt and Mary Levering of Des Moines, IA; Henry and Sharon Knape of Omaha, NE; and many other relatives and friends.
