Sidney Greubel

Sidney Gail Greubel, 65, passed away on April 24, 2018. She was born February 13, 1953 in Mahaska County Hospital in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Lyle L. Watts and Helen F. Meyer-Encinas. Sidney has one brother 11 months younger named Steven Watts. Sidney retired from United Parcel Service in 2000 after 25 and a half years of employment. Sidney was the first women to retire from UPS. Sidney loved coaching YABA bowlers at Bowlerama Lanes, including her own children. Sidney enjoyed traveling to Texas every year with her family. Sidney was an avid Cowboys fan.
Sidney married James Greubel on October 29, 1977 in Des Moines, Iowa. They have three daughters; Brenda Leigh Gillum, Mica Jo Ballard (Robert Warren), and Brandy Kale Probasco. There are ten grandchildren; Matthew Wade Blackford (Shelly Avery), Megan Renae Gillum, Kayla Jean Gillum, Brandalinn Gail-Jane Ballard, Micah Elizabeth Probasco, Levi James Probasco, Lane Matthew Marvin Probasco, Courtney Jade Probasco, Shania Dawn Meyer Probasco. One great granddaughter, McKenna Marie Blackford.
Sidney is preceded in death by her grandson, Matthew Blackford, her Uncles Keith Watts and Dennis Watts, Art Burrichter, Edwin Mann; cousin Craig Watts; her grandparents, Mae and Warren Watts, John and Elva Meyer; her parents in law Anna Gruebel and Marvin Gruebel and her sister in law Debra Watts.
She loved sharing memories with her grandchildren and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, April 30, 2018 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 29, 2018 from 2:00-5:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Sidney’s grandchildren’s college fund or the Lung Cancer Foundation at MOHA.

This world has lost one of the most caring and loving souls Ive known in my lifetime. Sid had a love for her family that cant be equaled by many and will be truly missed. Im so sorry for your loss and our prayers and thoughts go out to yall in the nest few days. We love yall and God bless you.

Jim, I am so sorry for your loss. Girls,I can only imagine how ur hearts are breaking, so is mine. Sid and Steve were Norm and I's playmates ,being the first grandchildren and the only ones living in Iowa for all those years. Aunt Helen and Uncle Lyle, Del and I really feel for U, having buried our oldest son last year. God Bless ALL of U. She will be missed by us all. Love, Carol
