Arthur Jones

Arthur Eugene “Gene” Jones, 86, was born to Arthur and Florence Jones on April 29, 1922, and passed away Friday, June 6, 2008 at Sunnyview Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at the Elkhart Christian Church with burial at the Elkhart Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 9, 2008 at the Elkhart Christian Church.
Gene married Betty Grace Smith on May 28, 1941, in Canton, Ohio, where he was playing professional baseball. They later moved back to Iowa and farmed in rural Elkhart for 53 years. To this union three children were born: Karen (Wayne) Twedt of Huxley, Iowa; Kathie (Curt) Olenius of St. James, Minnesota; and Dennis (Peggy) Jones of Davenport, Iowa.
Gene is survived by his three children, nine grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and one sister, Blanche Cummins. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and two brothers
