Eileen Kay Rivera

Eileen Kay Rivera passed away peacefully April 12, 2018 at the age of 73. She was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on January 20, 1945 to Noel and Ellen (Cooper) Roberts. She grew up in Menlo, Iowa, until she moved to Des Moines and spent a forty six year career at EMC Insurance Company. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. On November 19, 1988 she married art Rivera. She became wife, mother, and homeowner that week.
Kay enjoyed going to Branson, Missouri and Silver Dollar City several times a year; that was her favorite vacation spot.
Kay is survived by her loving husband, Art; granddaughters, Taryn Wadstrom, Bailey and Blake Aldrige; two great granddaughters; sister, Evelyn (Carl) Varley; and several nieces, nephews and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Beverly Doyen; stepdaughters, Deborah Martin and Pamala Aldridge.
The family will greet friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Art Rivera family to be directed to the Lymphoma Leukemia Society and American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
