James Anderson

James Anderson, 78, of Des Moines passed away on Sunday June 8, 2008 at the Norwalk Nursing and Rehab. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday June 11, 2008 at Indianola Heights Christian Church 3139 S.E. 8th Street in Des Moines, with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 S.W. 9th Street.
James was born in Norwalk on October 9, 1929 to Jerry and Edith Anderson, he was the youngest of ten children. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed golfing and a good game of poker with his friends. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Armstrong – Pirelli Tire Corporation after 35 years. He was a member of Indianola Heights Christian Church, Argonne Legion Post No. 60 and the East Gate Masonic Lodge.
James is survived by his wife, Kathryn (Voitel); step-sons, David (Carol) Geil of Indianola and William (Judy) Geil of Lancaster, PA; sister, Vivian Schneider of Sun City, AZ; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa or Indianola Heights Christian Church.
