Richard Melvin Boyd
Of Des Moines, Iowa
Richard Boyd, age 74, passed away on April 12, 2018 at Taylor House Hospice. Richard was born the son of William Boyd and Jonnie Mae Scott on December 11, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended Emerson High School, where he ran cross country and enjoyed watching all sports. Richard was employed by U.S. Steel in Gary, Indiana as a steel laborer for 25 years. Richard was a member of Cornerstone Pentecostal Church, he had a deep love for the Lord and was always willing to pray for anyone if they had asked. Above all, he was truly blessed and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all his heart.
He is survived by his loving wife, Maureen; sons, Richard Boyd, Jr. (Gwen); step-son, James Hughes; brother, Charles Logan; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Roger Boyd, Robert Boyd, Wilbert Boyd, Carl Logan, Harriet Logan, and Florence Logan.
Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2018, with funeral service following at 1:00 p.m., at Cornerstone Pentecostal Church, 4148 E. 29th St., Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be directed to family in memory of Richard.

Words may not suffice to express the heartfelt sorrow that I feel for the passing of Richard. In this sorrowful time, my family and I extend's our heartfelt condolences to you and Richards family.
