Donna Jean Shissler

Donna J. Shissler, 83, passed away on April 8, 2018, in Des Moines. She was born August 20, 1934, in Vandalia to Elmer and Thelma Blood. Donna married Carroll Duane Shissler on March 11, 1954 in Ivy. Donna was an active member of Farrar United Methodist Church. She was an avid seamstress and enjoyed making quilts.
She is survived by her children, Vickie (Jim) DeCamp, Rick (Sue) Shissler and Dianna (Gordon) Kusel; 9 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; twin sister, Dona (Floyd) Seiberling, and Joan (Dwight) Surber; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Farrar United Methodist Church, 11180 NE 134th Ave. in Maxwell, with burial to follow at Mitchellville Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hamilton’s Mitchellville Funeral Home, 303 Center Ave. South, Mitchellville.
Memorials may be directed to the family to go towards a cause close to Donna’s heart.

I worked with Carroll and knew Donna when they lived in Red Oak. She was a kind and gracious lady and those who knew her held her in high regard.

I went to School with Donna & Dona until I moved to Colfax in 9th grade. Always enjoyed my friendship with the girls. Went back to the class reunion for the 50th felt honored to be invited. Sorry for Donna's families loss. lovely lady
