Darleen Monahan

Darleen Monahan, 82, passed April 6, 2018 at home. Services will be held at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway in West Des Moines where family will host a visitation on Friday, April 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. and will celebrate Darleen’s life with a service on Saturday, April 14 at 1:00 p.m. with lunch following.

Born in Des Moines, IA, Darleen was the first child of Pearl and Abbie Peck. She and Jack Monahan were married for over 57 years when he passed in 2010. Raising four children, they enjoyed traveling, visiting many of the 50 states and camping with their 5th wheel. Darleen loved spending time with her 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Everyone who knew her loved her and tried hard to live up to her great example.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Sue (Mike) Blair, Rick Monahan, Shari Senn, and Ron Monahan; and many other family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, or just do something kind for a stranger.
