Bonnie Mae Michael, 88, passed away on Wednesday April 4, 2018 at her home. She was born March 2, 1930 in Jasper County to Orie and Hazel (Henney) Gibson and was united in marriage to Paul Michael on July 7, 1948.
Bonnie was a long time member of Staves United Methodist Church along with the United Methodist Women. She was a talented seamstress, making wedding dresses for her family, prom dresses for many high school ladies, and choir robes for her church. Bonnie was blessed with gifted hands that she used to upholster furniture and cross stitch. In her later years, she worked many years at Veterans Auditorium in concessions and banquet services where she met Presidents, band members of Kiss, and many other celebrities. She loved it.
Bonnie is survived by her children, Sharon (Bob) Ramsey, David (Kelly) Michael, Sr., and Wayne (Tammy) Michael; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruby Jacob; brother, Kenneth (Bev) Gibson; and a host of other family and beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Dennis Michael; brothers, Don Gibson and John Gibson; and sisters, Neva Gorman and Lola Orman.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2018 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, with burial to follow at Altoona Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Staves United Methodist Church in loving memory of Bonnie.
