JoAnne Pike, passed away on April 3, 2018 at Mercy Hospital. She was born on August 7, 1939 in Des Moines, Iowa.

She was a homemaker who took great pride in taking care of her family. JoAnne was a long-time member of Staves Memorial United Methodist Church and the bell tower at the church forever held such a special place in her heart because it was dedicated to her son, Chris.

In her spare time, she was an avid reader and enjoyed volunteering in her community. Above all, JoAnne loved time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Some of her fondest memories were having family over for holiday meals and swimming in the summer. JoAnne had the most generous loving heart, always putting her loved ones before herself without a moment’s hesitation.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 53 years, Tom Pike; children, Vicky (Ty) Slagle and Michael (Theresa) Pike; grandchildren, Jordyne Slagle, Harrison, Alyssa, Mikayla, Rebecca, Brianna and Natalia Pike; and brother, Jim Milligan.

JoAnne was preceded in death by her son, Chris Pike; parents, Walt and Marie Milligan; and siblings, Jack Milligan, Betty McClish, Bob Milligan and Jerry Milligan.

The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, April 6, 2018 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, April 7th held at Staves Memorial United Methodist Church, 2747 E. Madison Ave., followed by burial at the Des Moines Masonic Cemetery.
