Marjorie Jewel Ballard Beals
March 27, 2018
Marjorie Jewel Ballard Beals, 91, passed away peacefully on her 91st birthday at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines with her family by her side.
She was born March 27, 1927, in Des Moines to George Alvin and Violet J. (Barber) Ballard. She graduated from Lincoln High School and immediately went to work for LaMair Mulock. She married Richard F. Beals on May 29, 1947 and became a stay-at-home mom for their only child, Marcia Sue. She went to work for Witmer Kauffman Evans in 1965 and worked until she retired in 1992. She was a member of Sheridan Park United Methodist Church, Pioneer Park Social Club, Esther Circle, and Heartland Order of the Eastern Star. Marjorie loved to cook and bake, but her claim to fame was her candy – especially divinity. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were such a joy to her. Family vacations were the highlight of the year.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter Marcia Sue Isaac (Gayle), grandchildren Jeremy R. Isaac and Heather Isaac, great-grandchildren Courtney Williams, Jacob, Jackson and Jordan Isaac, Caitlyn Cizek, Matthew and Adam Garrington, and brother Ronald (Deb) Ballard.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Beals, parents George and Violet Ballard, siblings Mary Jane Ballard and Tomas A. Ballard.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 30, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 31, at Sheridan Park United Methodist Church, 4100 East Sheridan Avenue, Des Moines, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will take place at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Sheridan Park UMC.

We are so sorry, We know the boys loved her very much and talked about her often. They talked about her reading to them and about all the cuddles they got. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers.
