Salvador F. Vasquez, 81, passed away Friday, March 23, 2018. A commital service will be held at Iowa Veterans Cemetery, 34024 Veterans Memorial Drive, Adel, IA 50003 (Interstate 80, exit 113, Van Meter) at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2018.
Salvador was born in Valley Junction, Iowa on May 15, 1936. He was one of twelve children born to Salvador Sr. and Juana (Hernandez) Vasquez. After graduating from Valley High School, he attended Drake University and entered the United States Air Force for four years. He was discharged in 1959. After his discharge, he attended the University of Iowa and American Institute of Business. He began his United States Postal career in October 1961. He retired July 1997 after 35 years working in several clerical fields. He was married to Sharon (Sherie) Allen August 25, 1962.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sharon (Sherie) Vasquez; sons, Gary A. Vasquez of Maricopa, AZ and Paul W. Vasquez of Wichita, KS; daughter, Leigh Ellen Vasquez Russell (Paul) of Ankeny, IA; grandsons, Raymond Vasquez (Katie) of Irving, TX, Joseph Vasquez of West Des Moines, IA, and Michael Russell of Ames, IA; granddaughter, Emily C. Russell of Ankeny, IA; great-grandchildren, Evie and Benjamin Vasquez of Irving, TX; and siblings, Ronald Vasquez (Katie) of West Des Moines, IA and Sister Delphine Vasquez of Humility of Mary Convent, Davenport, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant daughter, Elayn Ellen, seven sisters and two brothers.
Memorial contributions may be directed to UnityPoint Hospice – Taylor House.

So sorry to hear of Sal's passing. Sal was alot of fun to work around. He always had a smile on his face! He was, well, a good man. God Bless his family at this sad time.

Salvador was my classmate at Valley, from kindergarten to graduation in 1954. He was quite an artist and well thought of by all his classmates. May his family take comfort knowing how very well liked he was....

Sal was a great person and a bigger man, he seemed to always know what us young Ones was up to, never heard a bad word come out when he was speaking to me, just always really pleasant, Till Valhalla Sal, we got it from here.
