Ronald S. Johnston

Ronald Johnston, 67, passed away at home surrounded by his family on March 23, 2018. He was born in Des Moines on April 29, 1950, the son of George Johnston and Cornelia Wells.

Ron loved water fowl hunting and had a passion for field trials with hunting dogs. He devoted his life to his grandchildren who were the light of his life. Later in his life, he discovered a passion for thoroughbred horse racing.

Ron is survived by his wife of 48 years, Evelyn “Mickey” Johnston; daughter, Ronda (Kevin) Kreis; two grandchildren, Cameron and Caden; and many, many treasured friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., with burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Monday evening from 4 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
