Roy Beauchamp

Roy Beauchamp was born November 6, 1916, in Bedford, Iowa to Elmer and Elsie Beauchamp. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during WWII as a medic. Roy retired from Armstrong Tire and Rubber in 1981. He loved helping people. He enjoyed working on ranches in Wyoming and helping on the family farm. Roy loved children and had a good sense of humor.

Roy passed away Friday, March 23, 2018, at Parkridge Nursing Home in Pleasant Hill at the age of 101 years.

He is survived by his 12 nieces and nephews, 4 of whom were his caregivers: Barb Donery, Jan Werth, Terri Rice and Mike Beauchamp. He is also survived by several great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews, and his lifelong friends, Steve and Patty Thompson and their family, who Roy was honorary “Grandpa” to their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Elsie Beauchamp, five brothers, six sisters, and his great-nieces, Tricia and Carol.

Services will take place at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, Altoona. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Monday, March 26, 2018. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 27, 2018. There will be a luncheon at Pleasant Hill Church of Christ, 5091 E. University Ave, Pleasant Hill. Burial will follow at Hopkins Cemetery in Hopkins, MO at 3:00 pm.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
